Matar Paneer Curry


Matar paneer is a traditional north Indian curry made with Indian cottage cheese (panner) and green peas simmered in a creamy tomato gravy. This quick and easy dish goes well with any Indian bread or rice variety.

Ingredients
onions – 1, chopped
tomatoes – 2, chopped
ginger-garlic paste – 1 tsp
coriander powder – 1 tblsp
chilli powder – 1 tsp
turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp
garam masala – 1 tsp
paneer – 250 gms
green peas – 1 cup
cream or milk – 1/2 cup
cinnamon stick – 1 inch piece
bay leaf – 1
cumin seeds – 1 tsp
dry fenugreek leaves – 1 tbsp
Heat 2 -3 tbsp oil. Add cumin seeds, cinnamon stick and bay leaf. When cumin seeds start crackling and onion and saute till light brown.Add ginger-garlic paste, tomatoes, spice powders and salt and saute till tomatoes are soft. Add water and green pees and simmer till peas are cooked. Add paneer and cream and simmer for 8 – 10 minutes. Add garam masala and fenugreek leaves and cook for 4-5 minutes. Matar Panner is ready.
